Abstract
This study elaborated the determinants of social performance in microfinance institutions (MFIs), which aimed to predict the impact of profitability, regulation and competition on the social performance of MFIs. This research is a quantitative based on survey on conventional rural banks and islamic rural banks in west sumatera province during 2016 to 20018. The sample of this research are fifty units of rural banks. The data of this research are secondary data collected from the publication of financial report and other document at rural banks. The technique of the data analysis which is used to prove the hypothesis is panel data regression. The findings of this research showed that profitability proxied with ROA and competition proxied with prime lending rate influenced towards social performance of MFIs. Meanwhile, regulation proxied with CAR could not predict the achievement of social performance of MFIs.
