Abstract
Experts on education generally agree that the theory and practice of Islamic education should be based on the basic concept of humankind. The most important aspect to concern in the development of Islamic education is an aspect of human psychology. Psychological foundation is a starting point or a base which deals and concerns with the talent, interest, character, motivation and innovation of students, teachers, administrative staffs, as well as other human resources. There are several physicological characteristics of the human that should be the fundations for the implementation of Islamic education, they are “nafs”, soul, brain, "qalb", and human nature. Those aspects are essensial to achieve the goals of Islamic education. In addition, the aspects are interrelated one another, hence in the implementation of Islamic education, all these components are expected to be able to develop and gain the goals of Islamic education.
