Abstract
The cetral point of Hamka’s thought in education is the concept of pureness (fitrah)in which education isnot merely logic, but also good attitude. Fitrah in each human being basically guides him to be a better person and worship to the creator, whether it is as a leader on eath or as a worshipper. Fitrah of education in human being is stated in three elements adhered to human beings;brain, heart and five senses. Combination of these three is really helpful for humans (students)to invent science, build civilization, understand the function of khilafah (leader), and catch the signs of Allah the greatest. Fitrah of education can be achieved through ta’lim (teaching) and tarbiyah (education). Teaching is the process of transferring knowledge meanwhile education is efforts to build character, attitude. This writing aims at knowing construction of Hamka thought in education such as in life philosophy book, al-Azhar interpretation book. The data collected are analyzed by hermeneutic theory.The finding reveals that education based on Hamka thought is built by a continuous process through informal, formal and non-formal institutions.
